Llandudno Photographic Society
Chairman's Letter - October 2009
As your new Chairman I would like to welcome both new members and old to our Club, albeit belatedly, as we are already into the second month of the 2009/10 Season.
The Season has started on a high with three guest speakers giving us an insight to their spectacular photography and club members sharing their expertise with us to enable us to become better photographers, although no one has yet managed to show me how to use a tripod successfully, but there again it may help if I bought myself one to practise with!
The high for me last month was our first competition for open digital photographs which was judged by Andy Polakowsky, which shows the wealth of talent within the Club, ranging from our budding photographers, the youngest being the tender age of five, to our more experienced photographers and I am sure that Andy would join me in saying that to pick a winner out of such talent was extremely hard. (The winning entries can now be viewed on the Competition Results page of the Website.)
Looking forward to October we have an exciting month ahead of us with two competitions one being an Open Print Competition the other being Night Photography and I can’t wait to see all those spectacular images.
On the 21st October a professional lecturer from Bangor University will be visiting our Club to give us advice on photography techniiques, which I am sure will prove to be invaluable.
A date not to be missed is the Auction to be held on 14th October in aid of raising much needed funds for the club. If anyone has anything that they are willing to donate please contact Gerry Roberts or myself (llpswmsjayne@aol.com) prior to the evening. There will be some good bargains to be had by all!
All that remains to be said is, I look forward to seeing you all at our regular Wednesday night meetings and happy ‘clicking’.
Jayne
